Each year, the NLM supports roughly 300 pre- and post-doctoral students at institutions nationwide who are working to improve patient care through clinical decision support systems, multimedia electronic health records and other technologies. In addition, NLM training programs address clinical research, translational informatics and public health informatics such as syndromic surveillance, bioinformatics, and biomedical imaging and signal processing. According to the director of the NLM, such training programs produce highly skilled investigators who are critical to improving clinical research and care. |
